If you love playing games, you must be one of the many who would prefer 1440p 144Hz monitors due to its ideal combination of responsiveness. There are numerous display monitor models that are 1440p 144Hz and choosing one could be very confusing, difficult and frustrating. Do not fret as this article shall provide you guidelines on how to choose the best 1440p 144Hz and help you make a sound decision.

Here is our list of 1440p 144Hz monitors with important details included

AOC CQ27G2

Specs:

  • Size: 27”
  • VRR: FreeSync
  • G-SYNC: Unstable
  • HDR: No
  • Panel: VA
  • Refresh Rate: 144Hz

Pros:

  • High pixel density
  • Ergonomic
  • Sturdy
  • High contrast ratio
  • Wide color gamut
  • Lots of gaming features such as MBR and FreeSync

Cons:

  • Low peak brightness
  • A little ghosting in fast paced games especially during darker scenes

About the Monitor

This monitor would surely provide you great gaming experience. Aside from that it is also affordable.

Image Quality

This monitor uses VA panel. This means it comes with high static contrast ratio which is 3000:1. This could lead to deep blacks and bright whites which provides a more immersive viewing experience. Aside from that, this monitor comes with great color reproduction which gives more vibrant colors compared to TN panels monitors.

The AOC CQ27G2 uses a wide color gamut backlight which covers 120% sRGB color space and it has a peak luminance of 250-nits. Though this could be seen as somewhat low, but, on normal viewing conditions, this would suffice.

The only disadvantage of having a VA panel display is its pixel response time speed which is noticeably slower especially during the transition of dark pixels. You will notice some black smearing on fast moving objects in fast-paced games. Do not get confused as this is not the same as input lag.

Features:

  • Equipped with AMD FreeSync
  • Eliminates screen tearing and stuttering
  • Motion Blur Reduction via backlight strobing
  • Reduces amount of visible trailing behind fast-moving object
  • Cannot be active the same time as FreeSync
  • Could alter strobing frequency from 1 to 20 in increments of 1
  • Perfect trade-off between motion clarity and picture brightness

Design & Connectivity

Great design considering its price. It comes with a metal stand which is very sturdy. Its chassis includes textured matte black plastics and ultra-thin bezels. Aside from that, you will be able to elevate screen up to 130mm, swivel by +/-30 degrees, -5/20 degrees and even mount it via its 100x100mm VESA pattern. Its monitor also has 1500R screen curvature.

This monitor also includes two HDMI 2.0 ports, DisplayPort 1.2 and a headphones jack. You will be able to use FreeSync up to 144Hz at 1440p on all ports mentioned.

Alternatives

  • AOC CQ27G1 – comes with 1800R curvature
  • Gigabyte G27QC– good alternative to the AOC CQ27G2
  • Samsung C27JG50/JG56- good alternative to CQ27G2/G1
  • Samsung Odyssey G5 – VA gaming monitor with a steeper 1000R curvature, available in both 27″ and 32″ formats

Dell S2719DGF

Specs:

  • Size: 27”
  • HDR: No
  • Panel: TN
  • VRR: FreeSync
  • G-SYNC: Stable
  • Refresh Rate: 144Hz

  • Quick response time speed
  • Affordable
  • Ergonomic
  • AMD FreeSync up to 155Hz
  • High pixel density
  • Sturdy
  • Lots of connectivity options

Cons:

  • Narrow viewing angles
  • Inferior image quality

About the Monitor

This monitor comes with the same price range as AOC CQ27G2. It comes with faster pixel response time speed. It uses TN panels which has its own disadvantages.

Image Quality

Unfortunately, compared to IPS and VA panels, TN monitors offer bad image quality. It has narrow 160 degree/170 degree viewing angles. This means the picture’s color, contrast and brightness is of low quality. The advantage, however, is it is more affordable and it comes with a rapid 1ms GtG response time speed which lowers the possibility of ghosting and motion blur in fast-paced games.

The Dell S2719DGF is a good option If you are looking for plenty of screen space and smooth performance but cannot afford an IPS model.

Aside from that, it has a 350-nit peak brightness and 1000:1 contrast ratio, overclock monitor to 155Hz in On the Screen Display menu.

Features

  • Supports AMD FreeSync 155Hz with 40-155Hz VRR range
  • Works and is compatible with NVIDIA cards
  • Dark Stabilizer
  • On Screen timer
  • Frame counter
  • Pre-calibrated picture presets for FPS, RPG and RTS

Design and Connectivity

  • Comes with sturdy stand
  • Ultra-thin bezels with dark blue-gray finish
  • Ergonomic stand up to 130mm height adjustment
  • 90-degree pivot, -5/21-degree tilt
  • +/-45-degree swivel
  • 100x100mm VESA mount compatible
  • DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 1.4, HDMI 2.0, headphones jack and quad-USB 3.0 hub
  • FreeSync over DisplayPort up to 155Hz over HDMI up to 144Hz

Alternatives

  • AOC AG271QX
  • HP 27xq
  • Viotek GFT27DB
  • Acer XG270HU
  • Acer XF270HU C

All of the mentioned alternatives are of 1440p 144Hz gaming monitors with TN panel. They have similar image quality and performance. The only difference they have are design, some features and connectivity options.

Among the listed, the Dell S2719DGF has the best value for money. However, depending on which area you are, this model might not be available, Hence, it is worth checking other display monitors that come with the same caliber.

You could check ASUS VG27BQ or the Dell S2716DG both are a bit more expensive but they are worth the price.

TN models come with 1ms GtG response time which are now available with the same price. Hence, you no longer have to sacrifice image quality and viewing angles. Check LG27GL83A.

LG32GK650F

Specs:

  • Size: 32”
  • G-SYNC: Stable
  • HDR: No
  • Panel: VA
  • Refresh Rate: 144Hz
  • VRR: FreeSync

Pros:

  • Lots of gaming features such as MBR and FreeSync
  • High contrast ratio
  • Ergonomic stand

Cons:

  • Ghosting in fast paced games

About the Monitor

This monitor comes with 32” 1440p 144Hz and flat VA panel.

Image Quality

The LG 32GK650F is a 31.5 monitor screen that provides an amazing gaming and viewing experience. It could also provide a lower pixel density. In fact, it only has a 93 pixel per inch for a 24” 1080p monitor. This means the bigger the model the less screen space you will have. Hence, the image quality will not be as good compared to others. Though that is the case, overall the image quality is still decent.
