When Does Vulpix Evolve in Pokemon Sword and Shield?

Though this is the case, there is a requirement for you to be able to evolve your Vulpix immediately upon catching it and that is to have a Fire Stone ready at hand. Fortunately, you will be able to find Fire Stone at the early stages of the game Pokemon Sword and Shield.
Fire Stones in Sword in Shield
You will be able to get and pick up a Fire Stone in the Motostoke Riverbank Wild Area. You will be able to locate this one at the east of Motostoke. You will have to cross the bridge from North Lake Miloch to Motostoke Riverbank and then you will have to turn to the left once you have reached the north side. You will have then to look for three pipes which you will find against the Motostoke’s wall. Get the Pokeball on the ground next to the pipes as it contains the Fire Stone.
Another location where you will be able to find the Fire Stone is at the Lake of Outrage in the Wild Area before Hammerlocke. You will be able to find circle of stones and in each of these rocks, you will find different Evolution Stone including the Fire Stone. Keep in mind, however, that you would need to get the Water Rotom Bike in Pokemon Sword and Shield before you could reach the caveat of this mentioned location. Hence, you will only be able to reach and get the Fire Stone once you have reached the Route 9.
How to Evolve a Pokemon with A Fire Stone
Once that you a Fire Stone with you, you could now evolve your Vulpix into Ninetales. All you have to do is to select the Fire Stone from the Other Items Section in the menu and use it on your Vulpix. You will then see your Vulpix to evolve. Take note that Fire Stones could also be used to evolve two other Pokemon in Sword and Shield and they are Eevee into Flareon and Growlithe into Arcanine.
