How to Create Nomedia File on Android

Nomedia is a blank file. It comes with an extension file name of .nomedia. This file works by preventing any folder or directory from being scanned and indexed by any app on your phone.
In other words, when a folder has a nomedia file, you could be assured that all the files in that folder will be hidden. Example, if have photos and you wish for it to be hidden from others, having a nomedia file in the folder of your photos would mean that your photos will not appear in your gallery nor in your other multimedia player apps. This file is very useful and there are times when you would need to create a nomedia file on your Android phone. How to Create Nomedia File on Android
Use an existing file
- Launch the built-in file manager of your Android phone
- Look for any file on your phone that has a very small size
- Copy the file to your folder/directory where you would want to create a nomedia file.
- Select the file that you have copied to the folder
- Click rename. You will find this under the menu or three dots
- Remove everything from the file name and add .nomedia.
- Click rename option and save the changes that you have made
- Ensure that show hidden files is disabled in the file manager
Copy already created nomedia file
- Open file manager app
- Tap the menu botton
- Click Settings
- Enable show hidden files button
- Go to whatsapp/media/whatsapp voice notes directory
- Once you find a nomedia file, copy and paste it on the folder you wish to hide your files.
Use third-party apps
- Go to Google Play Store
- Look for Nomedia app
- Download the app
- Install the app
- Allow storage access
- Find the folder you wish to create nomedia file in
- Toggle the button next to it
Use computer/PC to create nomedia file
- Open notepad on your computer
- Click file option found on the top-left corner
- Click Save
- In the file name field, remove everything and add .nomedia
- Select the location where you would like to save the nomedia file
- Connect your Android phone to your computer through the use of a USB.
- Copy and past the nomedia file in a folder you wish to hide.
