RTX 2080 Super vs RTX 2080 Ti

The Hardware

Both the RTX 2080 Super and RTX 2080 Ti are part of GeForce 20 line up and Nvidia’s 12 nm Turing microachitecture based. This means they have real-time ray tracing capabilities. They also use GDDR6 RAM. Though there are a lot of similarities in terms of their hardware specifications, there are also differences.

As you would have noticed based on the table provided above, RTX 2080 Super is newer compared than the RTX 2080 Ti. In fact, RTX 2080 Super is the updated version of the original RTX 2080. Though this is the case and even though that the new super variant is very powerful compared to the original RTX 2080, it is not at par with RTX 2080 Ti. If you will notice in the data above, Super comes with higher clock speeds but with every other specifications, Ti is better than Super which makes Ti’s performance better.

In-Game Performance

We have tested both Super and Ti for in-game performance through playing Middle-Earth: shadow of war which is a very demanding type of game. The results has shown that Ti outperformed RTX 2080 Super. RTX 2080 Ti has 12.7 % FPS in 1080p, 17.1% in 1140p and 19.2 % more in 4k than Super’s.

Of course we have tested both not only through one game but with many others but the results are similar from game to game. Hence, we could say that RXT 2080 Ti has dominated and won this category.

Price and Value

Without much competition, it is not surprising for prices to go up and this is somewhat is happening with the high-end Nvidia. In fact, RTX 2080 Ti is one example. RTX 2080 Super is priced at $699 which is the same range of Nvidia’s high end GPUs such as GTX 1080, GTX 980 and GTX 1080 Ti.

The RTX 2080 Ti on the other hand is priced at $1199 which is considered as the founders edition version. Though this is the case where you will have to pay 500 more, you could be assured of its improved performance in every category. Hence, if you have more budget to spare, we highly recommend RTX 2080 Ti. However, if you are on a tight budget, then RTX 2080 Super is for you.

Conclusion

Choose the best GPU that would best suit your taste, needs and preference is challenging. However, we hope that through this article, we were able to provide you useful information which will help and aid you in making a sound decision. Let us know what you think and do not forget to comment.
