Abilities and Weaknesses

No. 388 Pokemon in Pokedex, Frigibax comes with a different entry in the Pokemon Scarlet and in Pokemon Violet.

Pokedex entries:

Scarlet – Frigibax absorbs heat and it converts it into ice energy. This means that the higher the temperature is, the more energy it is able to store.
Violet – it lives in the forests and craggy areas. It has power on its dorsal fin and it is able to cool down inside.

Abilities of Frigibax

Thermal Exchange

In-game description – could boost attack especially when fire-type move hits the Pokemon.
It is a counter move where the Pokemon does not get burnt.
Fire damage would increase attack stat
Fire type of move is useless

Ice Body

In-game Description – gradually gains HP in snow
shows during hail or snowstorm
Pokemon regains maximum HP
No hailstorm damage

Weaknesses of Frigibax

Frigibax is stronger compared to most Pokemon. The reason behind this is due to it being a dual type of Pokemon. In fact, it is a dragon and it comes with ice abilities. Only few Pokemon types are stronger against Frigibax and they are Fighting, Dragon, Rock, Fairy and Steel-type. This means you should avoid using Frigibax when you are against the mentioned Pokemons.

Frigibax Location

Going to Pokedex to find the Frigibax location could be a bit challenging but at the same time fulfilling when you find the area where Frigibax is. In fact, you would need to check your map and consider the following hints:

Frigibax lives in caves
Rarely seen
Lives in area with deep snow

Find In Glaseado Mountain

Many rare Pokemon including Frigibax live in the Glaseado Mountain which is covered in snow. This mountain also has multiple secret caves. Though finding Frigibax is a difficult task, do not lose hope and do not get discouraged. Try to look for Frigibax outside the caves and maybe you could get lucky.

Glaseado Mountain Location

In Glaseado mountain there is a specific area which you could encounter Frigibax. However, before you would be able to get to Glaseado mountain, you would need to start your journey from Mesagoza in the South Province which is found at the left side of the city. Go north then cross a river and go towards Cascarrafa which is adjacent to the Asado Desert. Go to the west province and follow the river until you reach Glaseado mountain.

Pokemon Location

Once you reach Glaseado, go north and follow the river. Half way through the river, go east which is shorter distance. Try to find the area where Frigibax roams in the snow. This usually is between levels 22 and 36. Of course, always be prepared for encounter.

Picnic Reset Method

If you wish not to go through an extensive search, do not worry, there is a way for you to speed up the process. You would have to reset respawn which is near the picnic table around wild Pokemon and remove it after.

Go to a Pokemon Mass Outbreak. This could be defined by a Red Symbol on the map. Head to any Pokemon Outbreak in Glaseado Mountain.
Set up a Picnic from the menu in the Mass Outbreak area. Remove the Picnic table while saving the game
Remove the Picnic Table which causes new Pokemon to spawn nearby
Repeat this process until you are able to encounter Frigibax.

You might need to perform these task about 4 to 5 times before you could catch Frigibax.

Evolution of Frigibax

Frigibax is a rare Pokemon which could evolve into two powerful Pokemons – Arctibax and Baxcaliber which is the final evolution. This is very important type of Pokemon which is Dragon/Ice type.

At level 35, Frigibax could evolve to Arctibax which could complete into Baxcalibur which is considered as one of the strongest Dragon-type Pokemon in Pokemen Scarlet and Violet.
