Overwatch 2 Account Merge Not Working

There have been reports of having some trouble in merging Overwatch 2 account. If you are experiencing the same, do not worry as you are not alone. The reason why you cannot find your Overwatch 1 inventory in your Overwatch 2 is due to the overloading of players’ database plus UI bug. Though this could be resolved by restarting the game or linking the console to Overwatch account, there are many other ways to check and solve this mentioned issue.

The Account Merge Not Working Error Explained

Account merge error could occur due to many reasons and it prevents players to migrate their accounts over to Overwatch 2. This means, the players’ game inventories would be at a complete reset which also means their items would no longer be found in the game.

Moreover, for those who are trying to merge their account, it could take a while and you would have to wait for hours.

Do not worry as your information are still secured. The main reason as to why the error is happening is because the game’s databases are overloaded or there is a bug that affects the merging of accounts.

Causes for Account Merge Not Working

There are two reasons as why this error is occurring. One is due to overcrowded databases and another reason is due to bugs on the UI. If you are trying to merge and it seem that it is taking longer than usual, then, the reason could be due to this error.

If you cannot find the account merge prompt, then the issue would be with the UI, which unfortunately, you would not be able to do much.

How to Fix Overwatch 2 Account Merge Not Working

Wait for Your Overwatch 1 Items to Get Transferred to Overwatch 2

One way to fix the mentioned error is by waiting for your items to be transferred. If the database of players are overloaded, it could take time for your items to be transferred to Overwatch 2.

Restart the Game

If its taking too much time and the merging is still not yet completed, the next solution you could do is to restart the game. Then, you will have to do the following:

  • Launch the Battle.net application
  • Go to home page
  • Click on your profile picture
  • Click on log out option
  • On the login screen interface, log back into your account

Check Your Internet Connection

  • On your taskbar, check for your WiFi icon.
  • Ensure that there is at least 3 to 4 bars
  • If you see only a globe symbol, this means that you do not have any internet connection
  • Reconnect to the internet by clicking on the WiFi icon
  • Locate the name of your internet
  • Click on internet connection
  • Click connect
  • If you could not find your WiFi icon, go to the start button and select settings, network & internet. Select status and check the status of your connection.
  • If your internet is unstable, reset your router
  • If there are many devices connect to your internet, disconnect them
  • If nothing works, search for updates by clicking on start button
  • Type updates
  • Click check for updates
  • If there are any updates, install them
  • Contact your Internet Service Provider

Link the Console Account to Batttle.net

  • Go to your console account
  • Log into your Overwatch profile
  • Follow the on-screen instructions
  • Scan a QR code on your mobile device
  • Reboot the game
  • Once code is displayed, enter the code to connect to your Blizzard account
  • Create a new Blizzard account.
  • Log into the game and verify your account
  • Follow the on-screen instructions

  • Go to the official Blizzard Support webpage
  • Under tell us about the issue, describe the issue. Do not go into too much detail and do not mention your account ID.
  • Try the following menu would open
  • Click Merge Game accounts
  • Read the information on the screen
  • Click I still need help if you cannot find any information
  • Select account not listed here
  • Under still need help?, click Contact us
  • Write down full name, contact email and your phone number.
  • On the description section, describe the problem in detail. Mention your account ID and the issue you are experiencing. Attach screenshots as well
  • Click submit

Is Blizzard Going to Fix the Account Merge Error?

Yes, Blizzard has acknowledge and knows the account merge problem and is currently working on it. In fact, in the recent tweet, they have stated that they are aware on the long account merge queues.
