How to Take a Still Photo from Video on Android

A video works through images that are shown in a slideshow manner but in a very fast speed. Though that is the case, it is better suggested for one to record a video compared to capturing photos as the good news about videos is that it allows you to be able to retrieve a still image from it. This process is recommended as it allows you to take better quality images from the video than pictures captured individually. It also provides you a cool and cinematic effect which you would surely appreciate.

Fortunately, there are several ways and methods for you to be able to capture still pictures from videos which could be done on your Android phone. How to Capture Still Photo from Video

Method 1 – Through Gallery App

  • Open gallery on your Android phone
  • Find and play the video you wish to get a photo from
  • Drag the duration bar of the video and put it to the image you would wish to capture
  • An image capture or screenshot-like icon will appear below the picture, click on it
  • Find the current frame of the vide as an image on your device
  • Once the screen blinks, you will find the preview of your shot
  • Go to the main gallery and find the new image that you have captured
  • Post it to any social media as you please

Method 2 – Take a picture while recording the video

  • Turn on your camera app on your phone
  • Switch to video mode
  • Start recording your video
  • Click on the image icon found at the bottom right corner of yur screen
  • Once you have click on it, the image has been captured as an image while you are recording a video.
  • Go to gallery and find both an image and video file

Method 3 – Use a third party app

  • Download and install the mentioned app on your device
  • Open the app
  • Select video option
  • Select video you wish to use to capture images
  • Select Quick Capture or Time Capture option
  • Select the shot from the video you wish to capture
  • Click Capture button found at the bottom
  • The image will be saved in your gallery

Method 4 – Capture still image from video in Kinemaster

  • Create a new project on Kinemaster
  • Load the video you would wish to use to capture still photos
  • Stretch the video from the timeline and take note of the exact time and shot you would wish to capture
  • Pause it and click on the capture icon found on the left side of the screen
  • Click on Capture and Save option
  • Take a snapshot and save it as an image
