How to Fix Ring Doorbell Flashing Blue

One experience which could confuse you is your doorbell could be flashing something blue. Why is your ring doorbell flashing blue?

Having a blue LED flash on your ring doorbell could mean a lot of things. It could be a variation of blue and white LED pattern or any other pattern. These patterns could mean different things and could mean or covey different types of messages. Here are some combination of colored LED lights that could flash on your ring doorbell and their meaning.

Blue goes on and off at one-second interval = the ring doorbell is starting up or rebooting.

Blue light flashes and moves upward = your ring doorbell is connecting to WiFi during setup process

Blue light flashes four times and is then followed by a white circle = your doorbell setup is complete and is ready to use

Top half of the blue light is blinking = your WiFi password which was entered into the ring app during setup was setup wrongly. In Ring doorbell Pro, this means that your built-in battery charge is complete.

Short, quick blue flashes followed by a spinning white circle = the ring doorbell has been successfully reverted to its factory default settings

Spinning blue light = the doorbell button has been pressed

Solid blue light = two way audio is currently in use

How to Troubleshoot Ring Doorbell flashing blue?

The flashing blue light on your ring doorbell means that your device is charging. However, if the blue light is still flashing after 3 to 4 hours, there must be an error as your doorbell should be then completely and fully charged. To solve this issue, we highly suggest you try the following methods.

  • Trigger some alarm by using the doorbell button or your ring smartphone app.
  • Restart your doorbell
  • Reset your doorbell to factory default
  • Check your internet connection
  • Contact your doorbell supplier and ring support
