Hogwarts Legacy Unicorn Location: How to Catch A Unicorn

Unicorn has always been known as a rare majestic creature. This is true in Hogwarts Legacy game as well. If you are trying find a unicorn in Hogwarts Legacy game, then, you came to the right place. Where to Find A Unicorn?

Just like in many stories, unicorns are very rare and in Harry Potter’s game, it is not an exception. It could get difficult to find them. The good news is, they could be found in a place which is close to Hogwarts. In fact, the Unicorn Den could be found in the northeastern part of the Forbidden Forest which is west of Hogsmeade Valley. You would not get confused as there are no other unicorn dens on the map. This means you would not need to spend time looking for them all over the place.

For you to be able to get to the Unicorn Den in the Forbidden, all you need to do is follow the steps below:

You will need to use the Floo Flame to travel to the Upper Hogsfield.
Go west from the Floo Flame location. Use your map when doing this.
As you get nearer to the Unicorn location in the Forbidden Forest, you would notice the Unicorn Den sign appearing on your map. When this happens, this means you have reached the one and only Unicorn’s location in the game.
As you go through your journey towards the Unicorn’s location, keep in mind that you could encounter poacher. Be careful and ensure you defeat them. This is the only way for you to protect the unicorn.
Once you have arrived at the Unicorn Den, you would see a unicorn roaming within the woods. Remember to approach it carefully. Do not startle it. If you do, you would scare it away into fleeing.
If you cannot find a unicorn in the den, you would need to be patient and wait at the bottom right of the screen. This will enable you to advance the time which would give you more opportunities for a unicorn to appear.

Respawn Rate of A Unicorn

Since unicorns are one of the rarest, their respawning rate is definitely extremely low. In fact, you would not be able to find two unicorns at the unicorn den at the same time. This means, if you wish to have more unicorns, you would need to go back again and do it frequently. It is highly suggested for you to wait about two in-game before you return to the unicorn den to capture another unicorn.

How to Catch A Unicorn

Catching unicorns is a challenging task. You would need to strategize and you have to ensure you have a Nab-Sack which is a creature-capturing bag, a tool that would help you catch creatures like unicorns.

Follow these steps after finding a unicorn location in Hogwarts Legacy:

Approach the unicorn only after you have casted a Disillusionment spell on yourself. This will help you sneak up on the unicorn. If you find a shiny unicorn, then, you are in luck. However, you would need to be careful and not startle it.
Once you are close to the unicorn, cast the Levioso spell on the unicorn. This will provide you time to capture the mentioned creature. You could also cast Arresto Momentum to make it easier for you to capture the unicorn.
Keep the unicorn in place by pressing the catch button until the unicorn is in your bag.
You could now access your unicorn in your Vivarium.

Requirements to Catch A Unicorn

When you plan to catch a unicorn, you would need a Nab-Sack.

Unlock room of requirement
Complete the quest, The Elf, the Nab-Sack and the Loom. This is very important as it will provide you a Nab-Sack which would help you in capturing a unicorn.

How to Collect Unicorn Hair

When you catch a unicorn, you would need to take care of them and when you do, it will give you a lot of benefits. In fact, you would be able to harvest its hair which is necessary and a very rare item. It would provide you gear upgrades and it would also provide additional attributes.

When you feed a unicorn, it would drop a unicorn hair. Here are the steps in acquiring unicorn hair.

Pet and feed your Unicorn with Vivarium. This would show how much you care for your unicorn and in return it will drop unicorn hair over time.
You could also purchase Unicorn hair from Brood and Peck which is located in Hogsmeade Village. Keep in mind, however, that the cost is high with its price of 700 Galleons.

How to Breed Unicorns

You could breed unicorns in a Beast Breeding Pen. Once you are able to create a unicorn army in your Vivarium, the more unicorn hair you would get. If you have unicorn offspring, you would be able to sell it for 120 Galleons.

Unlocking A Breeding Pan

You would need a Beast Breeding Pen
Start Deek’s side quest, Foal of the Dead after completing first two side quests. This would unlock the beast breeding pen.
Purchase Breeding Pen from Tomes and Scrolls in Hogsmeade for 1000 Galleons.
Breeding Pen recipe is inaccessible until you complete the quest.
