How to Remove Wall In Dwarf Fortress

Find the right keybind and tools which could assist you in deconstructing walls.
Initiate Digging Order by pressing M on your keyboard.
Select Pickaxe icon at the mid-bottom of the screen.
Select Digging Order to open the tools you would need to dig
Select Stairs with circle and red strike
Pick the wall which you would like to deconstruct
Assign value to the wall you would like to remove
Assign an available dwarf to remove the wall
Dwarf will tear down the wall

Dwarf Fortress UI Bug Fix

UI bug could be very inconvenient as you would not be able to progress in deconstructing wall which would definitely affect your game. Do not worry as this could easily be fixed by resuming the gameplay.

Exceptions

Now that you know how to remove walls in Dwarf Fortress, it is worth knowing that the method provided in this article only applies to walls and floor structure that are made of tiles. This means, the method and ways provided cannot be applied to remove furniture and wooden walls.
